IN LIMBO

Graduation project HKU MA Scenography

An immersive installation exploring the emotional and psychological experience of delayed life
syndrome” the feeling of being suspended in time and caught between past and future, through layered video projections and spatialized sound.

In In Limbo, I gathered personal narratives from individuals living in states of transition and uncertainty, weaving their voices into a multi-channel soundscape of overlapping stories.

Slow-motion video footage of traffic lights, projected onto textured surfaces, interacts with spatial audio to create a contemplative environment reflecting the tension of waiting, displacement, and fractured identity.

The installation transforms fragmented memories into a shared spatial narrative, inviting audiences to inhabit the liminal space of reflection and suspended time.

This is a two-minute excerpt from a 15-minute video from the installation. This work is an archive of traffic lights stuck on yellow or red for extended periods, beginning on December 8, 2024, after the fall of the regime in Syria following 14 years of war. It includes instant reactions captured by me and contributions from family and friends through voice notes and text messages. The traffic light becomes a symbol of “delayed life syndrome”
